Günther Förg is a German artist born in 1952, living and working in Colombier, Switzerland.
"Förg's artistic concept is characterized by speed and definite action. He works in series and picture sequences and, since his early orientation toward Twombly and Palermo during his time at the Munich Academy, he has continuously enlarged his artistic catchment area. Förg does not quote, but uses his work more like memories of and references to a modernity whose artifacts are pulled out of the stream of forgetting by means of his rough and open working processes. By means of his tenacious antiformalism, they allow a fresh and sympathetic view by the beholder."
